In 1981 Karen Millen and business partner Kevin Standford invested just £100 in the purchase of white fabric and designed t-shirts which they sold to friends. Two years later they opened their first boutique in Kent High Street.

Head designer Gemma Metheringham and her team of 12 in-house designers create two main collections and two transitional collections covering 8 stories including daywear, work attire, special occasions and casual week-end outfits.
Every piece of cloth or fabric is designed in-house and receives particular attention. Karen Millen’s signature is well-made clothing using beautiful fabrics.
In 1983 business partners Kevin Stanford and Karen Millen opened their first shop in Kent followed a few years later by branches in Tunbridge Wells, Brighton, Guildford and London. Karen Millen has shops over 29 countries around the world from Russia to Asia and Australia.
