Shopping for womens footwear online: key trends this season
Zanotti, Rossi and Vivier. Every girl grows up with the idea of one day wearing their first Cinderella heels. And some of us have been known to own more than a 100 pairs of shoes: Celine Dion travels with luggage full of shoes. Whether embossed with studs, heritage style brogues, jazz shoes or cuissardes (thigh-high boots), each season the fashion world comes up with new trends and new words. When it comes to women’s footwear, arm yourself with this season’s glossary:
Brogues, derbies or jazz shoes: They all belong to the flats’ family and they have been seen on all celebrities’ feet from Agyness Deyn to Sienna Miller. The difference between brogues and jazz shoes are the perforations along the stitching of the shoes. How to emphasize them? A good dose of uncomplicated style.
Loafers, Moccasins: They also belong to the family of flat shoes and have the reputation of casual footwear in Italy. Loafers have been fully integrated into the women’s footwear cupboard. Alexa Chung adopts them and wears them with shorts and skirts. Not to mention Carla Bruni and Katie Holmes.
Wedges, platform sandals: Sturdy and comfortable the wedge comes back in style with a range of different looks. From natural raffia sandals to chunky suede peep toe wedges, they are the comfortable way to make a fashion statement. Clogs: Chanel took inspiration from the Dutch for footwear this season and Clogs have made their way into fashion and into our hearts. Summer Boots: Ankle boots were a huge story last winter and the trend has evolved for summer. Peep-toes are the detail to covet; they’re popping up in a range of materials for summer, canvas to give us a light breezy look and suede/leather for an edgy touch. Just remember to keep it to the ankle and shoe off your toes and you’ll be stepping in the right direction.
