“Balmain - it is the evening, the princess dresses of the 50’s, glamour, and the perfume Ivoire” Christophe Decarnin the designer in charge sums it up brilliantly. The house was founded in 1945 by Pierre Balmain. The sharp creations, with sophistication and a bit of extra audacity quickly became one of three prominent brands of the era, along with Dior and Balenciaga. From 1955 to 1962 a certain Karl Lagerfeld worked as an assistant.

After Balmain’s death in ’82, the ship lost its course apart from a short period when Oscar de la Renta restored it to success. The darkest times followed de la Renta’s departure in 2002, until the miraculous arrival of Christophe Decarnin from Paco Rabanne.
Decarnin put the prestige back into the iconic brand of Royalty and Hollywood with his synthetic and modern vision of the house. The look is glam-chic, yet sophisticated and elegant. Super-feminine, ultra-short creations characterize the aristocratic rock French brand.
