Coming from an artistic family, Roberto Cavalli naturally went on to study at the institute of Arts in Florence. It was here that he developed his interest in printing techniques and he designed a collection of floral printed fabrics. Roberto Cavalli founded his house in 1960 in Florence and Just Cavalli in 1988. Roberto Cavalli's innate sense of innovation and experimentation led him to patenting a revolutionary print technique on leather in the 70’s. His first runaway show in the salon du Prêt-à-porter in Paris captured the attention of well-famed French couture houses Hermès and Pierre Cardin. With extensive plans for his own brand, Roberto Cavalli turned down their offers.
